Pupils from Jersey's primary schools have been learning the art of Indian dance.

Four schools - d'Auvergne, Grouville, Mont Nicolle and Grands Vaux - hosted other primary schools from their areas and welcomed professional Indian dancers and teachers, Bisarkha Sarker and Kali Dass.

The week was organised by early years adviser Yasmine Thebault, whose department paid for the pair to visit the Island.

D'Auvergne reception teacher Paul Joumeaux said it had been an enjoyable experience for the children. 'The dancers did hand dances with aU the children and taught some of them full dances which they showed off at the end of the day,' he said. 'It has been absolutely fantastic. It's been a great week and some of the children have been mesmerised by their dancing.'
