The above, together with the details below, of the Wesley Deaconesses were gratefully supplied by, Methodist Diaconal Order
Marjorie Maltby and Margaret Stanworth are retired ministers, Jean Quick (née Cowton) is a minister.
Jean Baillie, Phyllis Thorne, Dora Dixon, Nora Fowler, Joan Stockley, Olive Lewin, and Wendy Dunnington are all retired. Rosemary Bell in recent years has been Vice President of the Diaconal Order. "Whilst I [Deaconess Christine Walters] was Vice President of the Conference, Rosemary worked with me as Acting Warden of the Order, and at the moment [14 November 1996], continues to work with me in that role."
Pam Pratley, May Smith, Josie Flute and Annette Vickers were shown as "Resigned".
Ada Illingworth entered the Order in September 1912 and was consecrated in May 1916. She left to marry a Mr. Oliver in August 1926. There are no details of her stations in our record book which has individual careers. The Diaconal magazine Flying Leaves ceased production during World War 1 and was restarted as The Agenda in 1921. This new production did not list stations in the clear way the old one periodically did, and the only reference to Sister Ada Illingworth was in the July 1922 issue. There was a Deaconess meeting at Nottingham Wesley and she "helped the meeting with her gift of song".
