Foresters Morris & Sword Dancing ClubMinutes of the 2008 AGM Monday 4th February Started 8:15pm at the Queen’s Walk Community Centre, The Meadows Present: Ken Bramman, Arthur Dexter, Frank Earp, Joe Earp, Eric Foxley (Bagman), Paul Gadsby, Simon Hopper, Phil Mallard, Steve Moore, Andy Sowter, Stewart Thompson (Squire), Barrie Whittamore and Mike Stevens (Peterborough) 1. Apologies for absence Colin Higgins, Cecil Laughlin, Ciaran Laughlin, Vic Martin 2. Minutes of previous meeting (26th March 2007) These were accepted as a true record of the meeting.3. Matters arising There were no matters arising. 4. Items for A.O.B Items were invited for A.O.B., see below. 5. Squire's Report Copies of Stewart’s report were distributed. It has been a good year. Dogs dancing in the rain were mentioned. Squire awarded us a 4-star rating for this year’s performance. The Squire’s report was accepted. 6. Bagman Treasurer's Report Prepared accounts were presented and accepted. Outstanding debts include £100 to Greenwood for their share of various collections and fees £ 75 to Eric for room rent and Morris Ring Affiliation £100 as a donation to Cystic Fibrosis The bagman treasurer expressed thanks to Eric & Stewart for not charging for services & cleaning. Monday collections arise mainly from the continuing efforts of Ken; Ken’s work in this was acclaimed. 7. Subscriptions for 2008 It was proposed that the standard subscriptions remain the same as last year at £30 (7 0r 8 members), and the unwaged subscription remain at £20 (about 9 members). 8. Charities for 2008 There was a long discussion about whether to donate to a more international charity, e.g. providing water supply to an African village. It was proposed that we (particularly Stewart and Simon et al) investigate the possibility that we can support e.g. a water pipe somewhere, but so as to ensure that the donation would be used with minimum overheads. The sum involved would be somewhere between £100 and £200. We should put names of past and present charities on our tour sheet leaflet. 9. Election of Officers for 2008/2010 Officer posts are Squire [current: Stewart] All were re-elected unanimously for the new period. It was proposed & agreed to elect Joe as Deputy Squire. 10. Tours and shows for 2008 Member went through the list of bookings for 2007 distributed by the bagman. Phil will look into the possibility of a brewery tour on a Wednesday or Friday. 11. Social Evening Deputy Squire will look into Adam’s Building as a venue for 8th May. 12. A.O.B. Queen’s Walk AGM Eric reported that we’d missed the AGM because notification had been sent to the wrong address (Helen & Steve’s previous house in Wollaton, then empty). We were still being charged the rate for affiliated clubs. Regalia Ken had acquired some material from which Foresters regalia was made. The Squire’s Staff of Office needs to be engraved with up-to-date details of club officers. Solstice celebration It was agreed that Ken go ahead looking into the practicality of putting on a Solstice Celebration on 13th December this year. Mike Stevens Mike’s regularity of attendance at Foresters’ events was noted. It was agreed with acclaim to invite him to become a full and fee-paying member of the Foresters. He agreed. Vic The meeting sent good wishes to Vic and wished him a speedy recovery. The meeting closed at 9.45pm [Bagman secretary Eric Foxley]
