2.Minutes of previous meeting (6th March
2006)
After correction of item 6 (Cost of practice hall: This is £10
a session, not £10 an hour) these were accepted as a true record
of the meeting.
3.Matters arising
Attracting new members: A proposed new poster – a sketch by Trina
– was passed round. No other action had been taken.
The team beast : There had been no progress. William currently holds
both of the beasts, Roger’s horse & Willoughby.
4.Items for A.O.B
a) Cheque signatures (Vic)
b) Solstice (Ken)
c) The future (Paul)
5.Squire's Report
Copies of Stewart’s report were distributed. It has been a good
year. Stewart mentioned excessive violence in the mummers play. A missing
apostrophe was pointed out.
6.Bagman Treasurer's Report
Bagman treasurer Paul thanked officers for not claiming expenses during
the year. The current state of club finance was OK. The names of members
not paid-up were discussed and excused. The amount collected on tours
was up. The receipts from bookings was very good. The receipts from
carol singing were down. The Duck race generated £229 which came
in and out of the books. Proceeds from the NCC evening show & the
carol singing go to Cystic Fibrosis, and the amount was topped up to
£200.
The cost of the Ring meeting this year is £65. It was agreed to
charge men £45, with a subsidy of £20 per person from the
bag. Although the cash-in-hand looked generous, bills for £540
were expected soon, and our charity donation would also go.
The bagman treasurer expressed particular hanks to Ken for being responsible
for most of the collections while we are out. This was agreed with acclaim.
7.Subscriptions for 2007
It was proposed that the standard subscriptions remain the same as last
year at £30, but that the unwaged subscription increase to £20
(up from £15).
8.Charities for 2007
Proposed that we continue to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Agreed
to give £200 from the collections at Carol Singing & Mumming.
Suggestions for a new charity should be made in time to be discussed
at next year’s AGM.
9.Tours for 2007
Eric thanked Dave & Vic for looking after the Monday tours and bookings
respectively during his absence abroad.
Vic went through all the bookings for this summer. For up-to-date calendar
of bookings and Monday tours see the web site.
Next Christmas the carol singing tour may not be a tour of several
pubs, but may be replaced by a complete varied evening at one pub (Fig
Tree) at Barkestone.
10. Social Evening
Suggested we meet again at Paul’s at Bottesford (last year we
were 32 people) on Thursday 3rd May.
Active members (and partners) only!
11.A.O.B.
a) Club cheque signatures
Currently cheques require two signatures out of a specified three, Stewart
Thompson, Ken Bramman and Steve Moore. It was suggested that we should
change to two signatures out of four, the extra one to be Vic Martin.
This was proposed Cecil Laughlin, seconded by Frank Earp, and passed
nem con.
b) Solstice (Ken)
Ken asked whether we want to do it again? It would involve a lot of
work. Ken would look at the possibilities for Saturday 20th December
2008.
c) The future (Paul)
What happens to the club money we have in the bank if the club folds?
Our tradition specifies “In the event of the Club ceasing to exist,
the funds remaining in the bag shall be distributed as seen fit by a
quorate meeting of the remaining members of the club”. This was
accepted as a satisfactory wording.
d) Barrie Whittamore was awarded a virtual badge with acclaim. The
real badge will be awarded when we dance out.
e) Cecil thanked Vic for acting as foreman and teaching us so many
dances – we should make sure that we dance out the new ones we
are taught!
f) Ian Robertson (danced with the club for a short while), aged 55,
was one of more than 100 people killed in a gas explosion mining accident,
in Ulyanovskaya, Siberia.
The meeting closed at 9.45pm
