Traditional Indian a.k.a south asian dance is expressly about beauty and youth, perhaps in human proportions and mythical abstractions; but it seems to allow—even demand and command respect—for age and experience. Is this 20th century south asian phenomenon an expedient myth or a workable model for our public-funded and culturally directed times?
